HELPING THROUGH LAUGHTER

Long Island Comedy Group SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED Make Every Laugh Count

With shows like 'Whose Line is it Anyway there has been a resurgence in interest for a form of comedy that has always been seen as the less popular sibling of stand-up. In theaters across the US and Canada small groups pf improvisational performers take suggestions from audiences and turn them into spontaneous performances. But here in New York theres a new group in town making some big waves, and their name is 'Some Assembly Required.

Al Isaacs met Scott Baker and Dan Frick when he began teaching improvisational comedy at THE BROKERAGE in Bellmore NY. There was an instant chemistry.

Working with these two guys is always a blast," says Isaacs. Tremendously talented, unpredictable, and with just a wicked sense of humor!"

Chances are that youve seen or heard their work as individual artists. Scott is a model and actor, and has appeared in such movies as ANALYZE THAT, TWO WEEKS NOTICE, and ANGER MANAGEMENT. Dan has been behind the scenes making other look good with his writing for CONAN OBRIEN and several MTV MUSIC AWARD broadcasts.

Al started performing improv 15 years ago in a group with none other than the star of THE KING OF QUEENS, Kevin James. A seasoned stand-up comic as well, he understands some of the stigma that follows improv:

I think the problem is that when it is done well, it looks so easy. That got the ball rolling for many less than great groups to go out and start performing and the reputation followed."

According to their audiences, that doesnt seem to be a problem for 'Some Assembly Required. With their distinct personalities, sharp wit, army of impressions, and ever-growing list of interactive games with the audience, the group is leaving fans rolling in the aisles and clamoring for tickets to the next show.

Lately those shows have become more and more about giving back to the community. All three have had their lives touched by Cancer in one way or another, Scott is a former police officer, and Als Father-in law narrowly survived the tragic events of 9/11, so it was only natural that they began seeking out charity events to round out their performance schedules. Police and Firefighting groups, Veterans Associations, and coming up on August 14th, 'The Eager to Serve Youth Organization at The Brokerage in Bellmore, NY.

'Weve been blessed to be able to do something that we love for so many people. If we can do even more good through our shows, what more could you ask for?"

Tickets for the 14th are available through The Brokerage box office at (516)785-9349 or visit their website at http://www.brocom.info
