Terror futures exchange proves too popular

TerrorBet.com the first virtual terror futures exchange today suffered server overload following a larger than expected number of visitors to the site.

TerrorBet.com the first virtual terror futures exchange today suffered server overload following a larger than expected number of visitors to the site.

With over 200 traders preregistering in the first day alone, TerrorBet are confident of reaching their target of 1,000 active traders when the first contracts go live in December.

"We did suffer server problems briefly today but interest is obviously very high at the moment. The cancellation of the Pentagon project and the subsequent announcement that the project's head John Poindexter is to resign did result in a flood of traffic to our site." Programme Director Chad Noble said. "We were only offline for a little over an hour after being overwhelmed by the interest in our terror bet exchange."

The TerrorBet virtual terror futures exchange is open for trader pregistration now, offering the first 1,000 traders special discounts. With details of tradeable contracts to be released in September for active trading in December, TerrorBet is the first company to offer traders the chance to bet on non-financial events closely linked to civil unrest and the war on terrorism.
