Villages additions add classrooms, seats
The Haskell Company is constructing new additions to two Florida charter schools
JACKSONVILLE, FL (PRWEB) August 6, 2003 -- One plus one doesnt always equal two. In fact, at two schools located in Sumter, Fla., it equals 500.
The Haskell Company is currently constructing two additions to The Villages Charter Middle and High schools that will create 500 student seats.
The schools were built and are operated by The Villages of Lake Sumter Inc., which owns and operates a retirement community where Sumter, Lake and Marion counties meet. The community is comprised of neighborhoods in all three counties with approximately 36,000 residents.
Currently, 6,000 people are employed by the communitys businesses and also use the charter schools.
Gary Lester, a Villages spokesman, said the additions were needed because of the overwhelming, positive reaction" to the charter schools operated by the company.
The school additions include a one story, 18,760-square-foot addition that is being added to the high school, creating 350 seats, and a two story, 6,321-square-foot addition being added to the middle school, creating 150 seats.
The additions will add 12 high school and six middle school classrooms and should be completed by February 2004. Both additions were designed by Haskell, which originally designed and constructed the existing schools.
Haskell is recognized as one of the nations leading design-build and construction management firms with annual revenues of $700 million.
