(PRWEB) August 8, 2003 -- On Fri., Aug. 1, full-service animation studio Super 78 hosted the Themed Entertainment Association's Summer Mixer at their Hollywood studio. A group of approximately 150 people, including themed entertainment developers, producers, commercial and television industry professionals, members of the media and artists, gathered to celebrate art and to explore the animation process in a hands-on environment.

Works on display throughout the studio included contributions from Super 78 staffmembers and clients in addition to animation works from 2D and 3D artists from Disney, Film Roman, Dreamworks, Warner Bros and Cartoon Network, as well as works by several fine artists.

Attendees were also treated to an in-depth "sneak-peak" at a major animated project currently in production at Super 78. The animation lifecycle for one of the upcoming film's characters was shown from the concept stage all the way through design and final imagery.

The tour began with Design, moved to the Process Gallery where Super 78 creative director Brent Young explained the animation process, then moved into the CG Rooms where Super 78 artists explained their roles in modeling, rigging, animation, lighting/texturing and rendering. The tour then moved to Post where final compositing brought the imagery to life. Finally, guests ended their evening posing for the caricature artist who stayed busy all night creating personal souvenirs for everyone.

"The folks at Super 78 truly went all out to make sure that the TEA had one of our greatest mixers ever," said Gene Jeffers, executive director for the Themed Entertainment Association. "From the informative tours of their animation empire to the awesome networking that seemed to be happening in every corner of their new facility, Dina, Brent and their entire team made magic happen."

"The turnout for this event and the night's festive atmosphere made us feel like there are great things ahead for the industry at-large and the companies who are still shaking and moving," Brent Young said.

"In planning this reception, our goals were to educate people about animation and to get them as excited about it as we are," added Super 78's executive producer Dina Benadon. "This industry works very hard at creating fun for people, so having a night of fun for ourselves is like doing research. Im already thinking of themes for the next one!"

The Themed Entertainment Association is an international alliance of professionals in the location-based entertainment industry representing more than 500 member companies worldwide. The 2003 TEA Conference and Thea Awards Gala, honoring the year's greatest achievements in themed entertainment and experience design, will be held Oct. 3-4, 2003 at the Century Plaza Hotel, Century City, CA.
