PSSC Labs Participates in AMDs Validated Server Program

Leading HPC and Cluster System Builder Will Produce AMD Opteron Processor 800 and 200 Series-based Clusters

LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2003 -- PSSC Labs, Inc., a leading builder of custom-configured high performance computing systems, announced today its participation in AMDs Validated Server Program. The program, recently launched by AMD, will provide systems integrators, like PSSC Labs, with availability of complete AMD Opteron processor-based servers and a single point of contact for server manufacturing, service, support and shipping.

Participation in the VSP compliments a long standing relationship between AMD and PSSC Labs that has produced world-class Beowulf clusters to meet the supercomputing needs of governmental agencies, like NASA, as well as the worlds best universities. PSSCs Beowulf customers are typically memory-intensive users who require large amounts of physical memory that can be accessed very quickly by the processor - tasks which the AMD Opteron performs well.

The Validated Server Program, combined with our newly released CBeST 3.0 cluster management software, will streamline our processes and allow us to produce powerful AMD Opteron clusters more quickly for our customers," said Alex Lesser, Vice President of PSSC Labs.

This Validated Server Program will offer PSSC Labs the following:
•   A high quality AMD Opteron processor-based server solution, featuring AMD64 technology for seamless 32-to-64-bit migration
•   A choice of non-branded "bare-bones" or fixed configurations
•   Validation and compatibility testing in accordance with stringent guidelines established by AMD
•   World-class manufacturing, service, and support

Were pleased to add PSSC Labs to the growing list of quality system builders involved in the Validated Server Program," said Marty Seyer, vice president and general manager of the Microprocessor Business Unit at AMD. Companies like PSSC Labs build powerful cluster systems that fully explore the potential of our AMD Opteron processors. AMDs Validated Server Program will make it easier for them to expedite delivery to their customers."

About the AMD Opteron Processor
The AMD Opteron processor is based on AMDs eighth-generation processor core, which marks the introduction of AMD64, the industrys first 64-bit, x86 technology implementation. This technology preserves companies investments in 32-bit applications, while allowing a seamless transition to 64-bit computing as those companies require. The AMD Opteron processor is designed to deliver high-performance server and workstation solutions for todays most demanding enterprise applications. The processor is scalable, reliable and compatible, which can result in lower total cost of ownership. Key AMD Opteron processor innovations include an integrated memory controller, which reduces memory bottlenecks, and HyperTransport technology, which increases overall performance by removing or reducing I/O bottlenecks, increasing bandwidth and reducing latency.
