Integrated Software for eBay Buyers launched by Bay Prospector
Search saving and organization with one-click replay, powerful search tools, integrated item tracking, and bidding tools in a new software program that helps buyers locate, track, bid for, and win items on eBay.
Cupertino, Calif., August 12, 2003 -- Bay Prospector has released Prospector, a new software program designed to help users maximize the benefits from eBay, the popular internet website.
Prospector, which is available through www.bayprospector.com, is a customizable web browser featuring a unique search tree that lets users save their searches for one-click replay.
The search tree also lets users combine search results from multiple searches. Users are able to control the context and the layout of search results and it makes eBay more accessible.
Additional benefits of Prospector include:
| | - New search tools that enhance the ability of buyers to locate items. Several of these probe deeper into what the competition is bidding on.
- A watch list that lets users add notes and highlighting to items that they are tracking. Users will be able to note dimensions, condition and shipping costs for easy viewing and comparison. They will also be able to see the status of pending bids.
- A customizable search toolbar lets users add site searches from any website for convenient access. This "Build-Your-Own-Toolbar" opens many possibilities and has proven to be very useful in user trials.

Prospector is available in two versions, Standard and Professional. The Standard version includes search storage and organization, and the item tracking features. The Professional version adds additional searches and bidding tools. An auction sniper is built into the Professional version for local machine bidding. A server-based auction sniper is available as an add-on service.
It is considerably easier for regular users, collectors, and bargain hunters to perform essential eBay tasks such as searching, tracking, bidding for, and winning items with Prospector. A ground up approach was taken to evaluate and overcome what was tedious and inefficient about the current interface and existing tools.
Based on user feedback and empirical usage data during the development and testing period, Prospector helped buyers locate, bid for, and win more items more effectively, and with greater user satisfaction, than through any other means.
