(PRWEB) August 10, 2003 -- Los Angeles Fashion Week Haute Couture designer Sterling Capricio makes his first debut with The Gothic Soul Review" fashion show and reception.. Many celebrities expected. If it is possible to inhale rock music, infusing it with mystery yet with raw emotion, and then exhale this mix to produce an entirely new creation, LA-based couturier, Sterling Capricio, has done so through his provocative fashion designs.
Drawing from his musical background as a former guitar player in a rock band, Capricio splices edginess and vulnerability with the uncanny, creating his signature style he labels, Gothic-Soul. His designs are what a soul-searching guitar riff would look like. Or more palatable, what the design team of Marilyn Manson paired with Prince would conjure up--an electrifying dark cloud atop a rainbow.
This revolutionary designer rarely plays it safe. I have to take chances, that is the only way I know how to do what I do. If I did not take chances I would not be a designer, I would be a manufacturer." From the dangerously sensual designs that define his Sterling Capricio Couture line, to the theme of Gothic-Soul reflected in his signature line, Sterling, Capricios designs find residence at his Sterling Capricio Studio. His designs are unstructured, uncut yet find definition and take form on beautiful bodies such as actresses Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon of NYPD Blue; Lana Parrilla of Boomtown; Kellita Smith of The Bernie Mac Show and Cindy Margolis, TV host and Internet star.
Capricios style is a mix of performance art and couture, a fusion of the improvisational hip jacket and the carefully crafted opera coat. He has succeeded in establishing himself outside of the seasonal rhythm of the fashion world by conceptualizing his intentions with masterful technique. His most recent designs emanate the allure of black and cream paying tribute to silhouettes of light and shadow that are reinterpreted in the Victorian tradition of respectability with romantic touches of Billie Holidays charm. His tattered seams and tailored stitches push the boundaries of style to new heights while creating timeless pieces.
If fashion sense is the expression of ones soul, then Capricios soul may appear at first a bit imbalanced. The Gothic-Soul element perhaps sounds like an oxymoron, but what lies beneath is a rich magical blend of contrasting images that create on one hand decadence and on the other, refined glamour. Looking deeper, however, one sees that fashion can never be truly defined by one person, a garment never to look the same on another. Fashion is more than what we see. My clothes get better when people put them on," explains Capricio. For most women this is true glamour, true balance.
"THE GOTHIC SOUL REVIEW" 2003 is one of the Fashion industrys premier events being presented Los Angeles Fashion week. The evening will consist of a reception with butlered hors doeurvres and beverages from 7:30-8:15 p.m., and the fashion show from 8:30-9:15 p.m. Celebrity attendance and media coverage of the gala will be extensive.
