Mervin Evans Asks President to Give Troops Vacations

Los Angeles, CA -- August, 2003 -- Mervin Evans, the only declared Democratic challenger to Senator Barbara Boxer, has asked President Bush to direct the Department of Defense to create a vactaion plan for troops overseas.

Evans stated: I am opposed to the current military action in Iraq. We need to have the United Nations to share some of the burden.

However, in the meantime we should and must do more for the families of the troops. A vacation plan for troops overseas on combat duty is a good public policy.
