Invitation to participate in 2003 BSI Computer Theft Survey

Comprehensive Computer Theft survey explores the chain of events and modus operandi of computer theft

BSI is conducting a first of its kind, worldwide computer theft survey.

Computer theft has reached epidemic proportions. Over 1.6 million laptops have been stolen in the USA in the last three years alone. Worldwide statistics are proportionately similar.

To date, there is little definitive data regarding computer theft, aside from U.S. insurance company theft figures. However, there was no reliable worldwide data available that narrowly and specifically investigates the circumstances and chain of events leading up to the theft of a computing device or the modus operandi.

This is the first computer theft survey to establish security benchmarks for the under-examined impact of computer theft on the individual and organizational user.

It is our hope that reliable data accumulated in this survey will provide hard facts that can be used to close vulnerabilities and help safeguard the computer user from theft.

Please take 10 minutes to complete this survey at: www.keysurvey.com/survey/11650/4e04/

The survey will run for two weeks. We urge you to encourage your colleagues to take the survey also. The results will be published on or around August 26th, 2003.

Thanks in advance for your participation.
