realMethods Expands Its Open Source Scope

realMethods announces the offering of its J2EE Framework under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL).

With the move from the GPL to the less restrictive LPGL just about any J2EE development scenario can safely leverage and redistribute the realMethods Framework run-time and source code, regardless if the end result is open source, commercial, or otherwise. To further back the Framework, realMethods will continue to offer superior support, training, and consulting through its professional services.

With the recent release of version 2.4, realMethods has extended the Frameworks exception handling capabilities. Upcoming releases will include support for JDO, JAAS, and the provision of JUnit test classes for key framework components and services.

realMethods' GUI-based code generator (AIB version 3.2) now contains support to generate a Struts 1.1 based presentation tier, including the new tile definitions feature. This version of the AIB is also capable of producing JUnit test classes to simplify the execution and validation of all generated application CRUD functionality. As in previous versions, all generated code leverages core components and services found in the realMethods Framework.
