MENC: The National Association for Music Education Listed in 2003 Combined Federal Campaign

Federal Government Employees Given Opportunity to Support Music Education

RESTON, VA (PRWEB) August 14, 2003 -- MENC: The National Association for Music Education announces its inclusion in the 2003 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The CFC is an annual fund-raising drive conducted by federal employees and military personnel to raise millions of dollars to benefit thousands of non-profit charities.

MENC will be listed in the 2003 donor brochure as number 1167 under National/International Unaffiliated Agencies." This years solicitation period (the time period during which employees can sign up to donate) is September1 to December 15. For more information on donating, visit the CFC homepage at www.opm.gov/cfc/.

Donations to MENC through the CFC will support MENCs mission to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all. Initiatives include free resources for music educators and advocacy campaigns to help ensure schools provide all children standards-based, sequential music education taught by qualified music teachers.

For more information, call MENC at 1-800-336-3768 or visit www.menc.org.

MENC, the worlds largest arts education organization, is the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. More than 100,000 members represent all levels of teaching from preschool to graduate school.

Since 1907, MENC has worked to ensure that every student has access to a well-balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality program of music instruction taught by qualified teachers. MENCs activities and resources have been largely responsible for the establishment of music education as a profession, for the promotion and guidance of music study as an integral part of the school curriculum, and for the development of the National Standards for Arts Education.
