(PRWEB) August 15, 2003 -- Los Angeles 4th District Councilmember, Tom LaBonge has been selected as Grand Marshal for the artistic extravaganza, Art in the Park at Park Labrea, which will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2003.

In its seventh year, Art in the Park at Park Labrea has become a hallmark of cultural events positioning the city of Los Angeles as one of the primary international leaders for large-scale artistic endeavors. Benefiting Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, this years event will feature the Tallest Art Show in the World at the LA Sky LIGHT Galleryİ 2003-2004 Tower Art Works; The ARTery USAs Children 4 Children heART Projectİ, and the Hand-Painted Street Pole Banners Exhibition 2003-2004.

Sponsored by Park Labrea Management, the Park Labrea Arts Council and a variety of contributors from the Art, Film, Media and Business Communities, Art in the Park expects an attendance of over 10,000 people and over 100 artist exhibition booths.

A native of Silver Lake whose family first came to Los Angeles in the late 1880s, Councilmember Tom LaBonge is informally known as Mr. Los Angeles" for his deep knowledge and enthusiasm about the people who helped create one of the most diverse and thriving cities in the world. In October 2001, LaBonge overwhelmingly won election to the 4th Council seat and continues to be extraordinarily active in it and the citys civic life -- initiating and supporting programs that empower individuals, groups and organizations to improve their quality of life.

Art in the Park is the ARTery come to life," said Councilmember Tom LaBonge. Los Angeles bursts with creative talent and nowhere is this more true than in the 4th Council District where art thrives, whether its here near Museum Row in the Miracle Mile or over the Hollywood Hills in NoHo. Celebrations like this serve to encourage everyone to find their creative niche and run with it."

Councilmember LaBonges dedication to the residents of 4th district is unparalleled and Art in the Park is delighted to have LaBonge preside as Grand Marshal. This years event will also showcase a unique presentation of Councilmember LaBonges photography depicting various areas of Los Angeles as a special tribute to our beautiful city.
