New Video Puts Kids In Charge of Their Pets

"Taking Care Of My Pet" Comes To Home Video September 9, 2003

Santa Clara, CA - August 18, 2003 -- The milestones in a young childs life are marked by firsts-and parents marvel at those primary smiles, steps and words. As children leave babyhood behind, parents want to encourage them as they begin to do more and learn new things. Kids simply glow with pride as they announce, Look -- I did it all by myself!" Its all part of growing up with confidence.

A new video created by three moms shows kids how much fun it can be to take care of a pet.
All By Myself: Taking Care of My Pet follows the award-winning release of All By Myself: Getting Dressed. Available nationwide September 9, the 30-minute video is recommended for ages 2-5 and will retail for $14.95.

All By Myself: Taking Care of My Pet features a colorfully animated ladybug helper, a veterinarian and dozens of diverse children who demonstrate how to feed, exercise, and play with pet animals. Even the youngest children will be inspired as they watch their peers brushing their pets fur, giving them food and water, and having a great time playing and caring for their special friends.

Buddy the Ladybug is the friendly animated host of All By Myself: Taking Care of My Pet. Buddy shows how he takes care of his own fanciful friend -- Squeaky the Pufferdoodle. Squeaky is always happy and healthy because Buddy makes sure she has plenty of food, exercise, and lots of love every day. Squeaky even puffs a magical rainbow when she does her special trick!

Buddy encourages viewers by repeating, You can do it, just stick to it, all by yourself." His words become reality as we see several youngsters taking care of pets ranging from cats and dogs to hamsters and tortoises. Claire has fun playing with her two Labradors in the pool. Brandon is careful as he feeds his fish. Landis knows that his hamster needs lots of exercise, so he lets him play in his rolling ball every day. And when Lucas chameleon catches his dinner, we get to see it in all of its slow-motion glory!

Children teaching children is one of the most effective ways to learn," says Jill Avery Zuleeg, a former Apple employee who produces the All By Myself videos with former co-workers Carmela Zamora Robertson and Michele Free, both moms of young children. What sets this series apart from most educational videos is that the little ones on screen lead the little ones at home into an amazing world of independence and self-discovery."

The first video in the series, All By Myself: Getting Dressed launched last year to rave reviews. Parenting Magazine selected it as one of the best videos of the year, and Dr. Toy named it one of the Top 10 Best Active Products" of the year. The video also received the Kids First! endorsement.

New titles in the series to be released early 2004 will address other high points in a childs life, including I Can Help, Getting Ready for Bed and Going to School. To order the videos call toll free
