Women in Photojournalism Coming to Charlotte, NC
14th Annual Women in Photojournalism Conference will be held in Charlotte, NC this September. Featured speakers include Ami Vitale (Magazine Photographer of the Year, 2003 Besto of Photojournalism) and Julie Jones (Edward R. Murrow receipient, two-time Regional Television Photographer of the Year).
DURHAM, NC (PRWEB) August 18, 2003 -- Photojournalists from across the country will spend three days in Charlotte North Carolina for the National Press Photographers Association's Fourteenth Annual Women in Photojournalism Conference on September 5, 6, and 7th. The conference is dedicated to highlighting work being done by women photojournalists. The meeting features presentations by noted industry professionals and a variety of related workshops.
Ami Vitale is the keynote speaker of this year's conference. Ami Vitale is based in India and her photographs and stories from events in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and Asia have appeared in publications including Time, Newsweek, Smithsonian Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, The Telegraph Sunday Magazine, Le Figaro Magazine and USA Today. She has won numerous awards for her work including: World Press Photos 2003 and Magazine Photographer of the year - NPPA Best of Photojournalism 2003.
Other photojournalists scheduled to presentlectures or workshops are: Cheryl Diaz Meyer, Stephanie Grace Lim, Sue Morrow, Anne Ryan, Susie Post Rust, Judy Siviglia, Laura Mueller, Nancy Pastor and Corey Lowenstein. Award-winning television photojournalist Andy Benton will present a lighting workshop. Lorri Burchett (from Station of the Year KSTP), "Cappy" Cochran of Fox News Channel (Atlanta), Jennifer Schnabel (NBC Charlotte) and Steve Reynolds (WCNC) will present talks and workshops. Julie Jones of KNVX (Phoenix) will deliver the TV Keynote address.
Julie Jones' nineteen years as a television photojournalist has been rich in experiences, opportunities and awards. She has received twenty-nine Rocky Mountain Emmys, is a national Edward R. Murrow recipient, was twice named National Press Photographer?s Region 10 Photographer of the Year and has been twice awarded a New York Film Festival award in addition to various national NPPA awards.
Women in Photojournalism 2003 is just one of many educational and networking programs sponsored by the National Press Photographers Association.
