Ladies Sing the Blues in Billies" Film

Principle photography wrapped in Los Angeles on the film Billies", a drama about four African American women seeking treatment for various addictions in the Billies Treatment Center.

Los Angeles, CA -- August 14, 2003 - Principle photography wrapped in Los Angeles on the film Billies", a drama about four African American women seeking treatment for various addictions in the Billies Treatment Center. The independent film is a character driven ensemble piece. It centers around four women and the doctor who treats them in this live-in facility. Penned by Tiffani Glass, a Chicago native, who also served as one of the Executive Producers and portrayed the treating physician. The story follows these women through a journey to heal themselves mentally and spiritually. The journey delves into depression, addiction and how to face those demons to become whole again."

The pic was helmed by up and coming director Tracy Danielle. Danielle comes from a music video background having worked with such rap artists as Bizzy Bone of the group Bone, Thugs and Harmony and the late Tupac Shakur.

Although the lead characters are African American women, we feel it will appeal to women everywhere." Remarked the other Executive Producer Tanika Brown McKelvy, a Fresno native. The story is really about the struggle that all women have in trying to find the right balance in their work and home lives. But when you have so many plates in the air, one is bound to drop. Which is the point at which these characters in the film have arrived."

Its not a depressing film, though." Added Glass, Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion. So the audience will leave uplifted, the prevailing theme is about hope."

The film features Tiffani Glass, Tanika Brown McKelvy, Roman James, Angela Matemotja, and Shannon Marshall.

The film was produced by HaRu Productions in association with Brown Girl Productions. Distribution arrangements are still being negotiated. The character driven, ensemble film is currently in post-production and when finished will be entered competitively at various film festivals. Writer, Tiffani Glass, has written two plays that were produced in Los Angeles. Billies" is her first screenplay.
