NEW SELF-ADJUSTING MOTOR BASES MAINTAIN DRIVE EFFICIENCY, REDUCE MAINTENANCE IN HEAVY-DUTY, 100-200 HP SYSTEMS
New ROSTA MB70 Tensioning Motor Bases from Lovejoy, Inc. extend the benefits of self-tensioning belt drive performance to heavy-duty power transmission systems with motors from 100-200 hp at 1750 rpm. The large motor bases reduce excessive starting torques and provide automatic, continuous belt tensioning in such demanding applications as oversized shaker screens, rock crushers, compressors, centrifugal pumps and other high-power industrial equipment. This prolongs belt life by up to 30 percent while maintaining high drive efficiency, without the need for frequent inspection and manual adjustment.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL (PRWEB) August 20, 2003 -- New ROSTA MB70 Tensioning Motor Bases from Lovejoy, Inc. extend the benefits of self-tensioning belt drive performance to heavy-duty power transmission systems with motors from 100-200 hp at 1750 rpm.
The new motor bases employ a swivel-mount base plate supported by an elastomeric suspension unit. This unit-four natural rubber inserts prestressed between a square inner housing displaced by 45° within a square outer housing-combines bearing, spring and vibration-damping functions. Set to user-determined tension via integral mechanical preloading device, the MB70s elastomeric suspension system continuously adjusts to variations in drive-load fluctuations and belt stretch so that slipless torque transmission is guaranteed throughout the belt life.
As a result, ROSTA MB70 models optimum belt tension to eliminate or minimize such operating problems as power loss, excessive, overheated belts, undue pulley wear and hopping, wobbling and screeching belts. The elastomeric motor bases high intrinsic damping also prevents fluttering in long belts, and minimizes motor bases vibration and behavior.
Because ROSTA elastomeric motor bases employ no metal-to-metal contact or vulcanized rubber-metal parts, they provide silent, durable and extended operation. The units are unaffected by mud, dirt, water and sunlight, and function reliably in temperatures between -40°F and +180°F (-40°C and +80°C).
Four new ROSTA MB70 models accommodate standard NEMA motor frames 404T, 405T, 444T and 445T. In addition to the new high-horsepower models, Lovejoy also offers a line of ROSTA MB50 Motor Bases for self-tensioning of belt drives employing motors from 5 to 75 hp at 1750 rpm, foe NEMA frame sizes 213T through 365T.
Lovejoy Inc. offers a full range of elastomeric, metal, and specialty couplings and is an important supplier of universal joints, chain/belt tensioners, motor bases, and variable speed pulleys. The company's broad line of products is available through a worldwide network of PT distributors, supported by 20 sales offices and nine regional warehouses across North America and Europe.
