West Coast's Best Kept Secret, Ras Kass incarcerated in the California State Penitentiary
On June 30th, the Court System handed John Austin (Ras Kass) a 3 year sentence to be served in the California State Penitentiary. Ras actually has to serve a certain amount based on what "strike" he was handed. If this is a First Strike, he has to only serve 50% of the handed sentence with 2-4 months already accredited to the sentence because of his time in the Las Vegas and Los Angeles jail systems. If this is considered a Second Strike, then Ras Kass will have to serve 85% of the handed sentence. Either way, Ras's management is predicting that Ras Kass will be released around this time in the summer of 2004.
Fan's can support this under-rated artist by getting a copy of the, Ras Kass presents 'The Re-Up album out late August. "Its a compilation that reminds me of a West Coast Version of Nas the lost tapes" say Ras Kass.
Much anger with his late label Priority Records, Ras is happy to be a free man without being free. "Rap songs and videos young people. Jail is not COOL" expresses RK!
Stay tuned!
