Sex Ed for Foreign Students

This fall, thousands of international students will arrive in the US to attend American universities. But while they may be strong on grammar, there are some areas their English teachers might have left out. Slangcity.com comes to the rescue with the Adult Slang Picture Dictionary.

Foreign students will find the answers to their most embarrassing questions in the tastefully illustrated Adult Slang Picture Dictionary. The website also features rap translations, bad baby names, the Random Insult Generator, and the popular Slang Map of the Human Body. Visitors can learn about "fangool" and "tossing salad" in the Ask AC column and sign up for our free weekly email newsletter.

Since 2002, Slang City has offered the best of American slang to an international audience, attracting visitors from over 60 countries, including the Netherlands, Brazil, Viet Nam and Yemen. Initially created for English as a Second Language students, the award-winning site has since expanded its offerings to keep up with demand from Americans for information on hip-hop, regional and obscure slang expressions.

Site director A.C. Kemp has been teaching American Slang classes to foreign students in the Boston area since 1996. Her courses, offered at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education (www.ccae.org) in Harvard Square, Cambridge have been profiled in the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine and the Christian Science Monitor.
