(PRWEB) August 21, 2003 -- Toronto-based vocalist Nana Jokura is releasing her sophomore CD, A Story: voice + guitar (Gatcha-Gatcha Music) to be launched on August 27th at Healeys. The acoustic album will feature the Japanese-Canadian singer/songwriter/composer accompanied by Kevin Laliberte ( Jesse Cook, Chieftans, Charlotte Church). Jokura delivers powerful lyrics filled with themes of love, loss and courage with a rich, honest voice.
Nana Jokuras musical training began in Torontos public school system before studying songwriting, voice, violin and music synthesis at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where Jon Alrich (professor) states Her music flows from her almost endlessly. I find her voice to be one of the most pure and expressive that Ive ever heard." Influenced further by the work of groundbreakers such as India Arie, Sarah McLaughlin, and Stevie Wonder, Nana Jokura has developed an incomparable style.
The A Story: voice + guitar launch doubles as the official kick off for the Nothing to Lose project, a tour of Southern Ontario and New England in support of Wellspring -- a community resource for cancer patients, their families and loved ones.
Jokuras mother, Sadako Jokura (writer for the Nikkei Voice) passed away from breast cancer last year. Nanas performance includes personal accounts of her mothers life, dealing with loss and how to stay strong.
