THIRD ANNUAL 4 PAWS FOR A CURE" DOGWALK BENEFITING THE NATIONAL CHILDHOOD CANCER FOUNDATION TO BE HELD SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 AT LA BREA PARK

The 3rd annual "4 Paws for a Cure" two-mile Dogwalk will be held on Sunday, September 14, beginning at 9 a.m. at La Brea park, The Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits. The walk benefits the National Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF) and the network of physcians-scientists that it represents, known as the Children's Oncology Group (COG), who are committed to conquering childhood cancer.

LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) August 22, 2003 -- The 3rd annual 4 Paws for a Cure" two-mile Dogwalk will be held on Sunday, September 14, beginning at 9 a.m. at La Brea Park, The Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits. The walk benefits NCCF and the network of physician scientists that it represents, known as the Childrens Oncology Group, who are committed to conquering childhood cancer.

This year 4 Paws" is nationally sponsored by PETCO & PETCO Foundation, and locally sponsored by Nutro Pet Foods and Wells Fargo.
NCCF supports childhood cancer research at 12 Southern California COG member research institutions and childrens hospitals.

The goal of NCCF is to raise the survival rate from 77% today -- 85% by the year 2008. NCCF is rated A+ by the Charity Rating Guide, whose standards assure that 94% of funds expended support research and program services.

Members of the honorary committee of 4 Paws for a Cure" include: Paula Abdul (AMERICAN IDOL"), Tom Cavanagh (ED"), Brian Dattilo (DAYS OF OUR LIVES"), Kristin Dattilo (THE CHRIS ISAAK SHOW"), Kevin Eubanks (TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO"), Soleil Moon Frye (SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH"), Chris Isaak (THE CHRIS ISAAK SHOW") and Judge Judy (JUDGE JUDY").

4 Paws" survivor spokesperson, Monica Trent, will be attending the Los Angeles event. She helps me because whenever Im with my dog, I forget I have cancer." With her cancer in remission, Monica and her dog Camille represent the power of research and the special bond between kids with cancer and their dogs who love them.

The walk will conclude at the finish line festival where participants will enjoy food, vendors, contests, prizes, and fun for dogs and kids of all ages.

Some of the contests include: Best Doggie Costume (Winner receives two nights at The Hilton Las Vegas), Best Human/Doggie Look-a-like (Winner will receive two nights at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas), and Best Pet Trick (Winner will receive a one-year supply of Nutro Max dog food).

All second place contest winners will receive a six-month supply of Nutro Max dog food. The canine collecting the most donations will win for his or her human a five-day, four-night stay at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel in Oahu, Hawaii and airfare is included. The second place fundraiser will win a two-night stay at Harrah's Resort in Las Vegas, including a show. The third place fundraiser will win a two-night stay at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, including a buffet.

Other fun-filled activities will include: a Silent Auction, Dog Psychics, a Kids Activities Area and photo opportunities with you and your pet. Much Love Animal Rescue, a Southern California based non-profit organization placing orphaned and abandoned animals in loving homes will be there with animals to adopt.
