Make Your Child The STAR of the Story!
A recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Education found that nearly 90 million Americans lacked basic literacy skills. This may be a shocking statistic to some, and to others a call to action.
Lisa Whiting, owner and operator of Books Unique, has decided to do her part in improving literacy skills in children, and hopefully instill a passion for reading in the process.
Books Unique specializes in personalized books for children that are available for on-line purchase at http://www.booksunique.net. On the website one can select the type of book from various categories ranging from baby books to graduation and anniversary books.
Once the type of book is selected, the buyer can then fill out a brief information form that includes the childs name, age, hometown, friends names, and other opportunities for making a child a star of their own story! Once the order is submitted, the creation of your personalized book begins.
The main character assumes your childs name, age, hometown, and so on making him or her more personally involved in the story. And with books about Sesame Street®, Warner Bros.® characters, and so much more the story is sure to be a hit with children of all ages.
As Lisa herself puts it, Children will actually want to read these stories because the story is about them." Lisa is a stay-at-home Mom with her two-year-old daughter Kelsey, and is interested in working with educators to capture the imagination of todays children through the magical world of literature, and is also available for involvement in fund raising campaigns.
The same Department of Education study mentioned above concluded that the best way improve literacy is to start young. They cited access to books, and a strong support system as the most effective ways of improving reading skills in children.
And, surely they would agree that the more interested children are in the books that they read early on, then the more likely it is for this interest to turn into a life-long love affair with reading. And what better way to catch their attention than to involve them personally in the story theyre reading--and thats what Books Unique is all about!
