Alanworks Now Offering Giclee Printing
Photographers now have a Print on Demand" option
New York City, NY (PRWEB) August 25, 2003 --- Alanworks ( http://www.alanworks.net/giclee.html ) launched today the one-stop giclee print shop for photographers. Appropriately named, Factory Giclee".
I have been inundated with requests world-wide, to help photographers build their portfolios and create limited editions of their work. Having spent a good part of my life in a darkroom, transferring the same techniques to giclee printing was the next logical step.
Exhibitions, private showings or just augmenting shooting assignments are the bread and butter of all photographers. So when it came to creating prints, money was a big part of the equation. Creating a print on demand" option is the best solution as a cash management tool and to create the best quality print to been seen by their audience.
What I always enjoyed about Giclee printing is it allows you to test market a new idea or image. Giclee printing affords more control of your career by giving you the ability to start self-publishing fine art photographic reproductions in modest quantities.
Photographers can build their inventory slowly over time in response to their developing market. Giclee reproductions are the perfect medium for established and emerging photographers, allowing better control of their cash flow. You can order just one reproduction to matte and frame as a display piece. Then order more as orders come in," said Alan Miller, founder of Alanworks.
The Factory Giclee specializes in printing on photographic luster paper, which is the standard medium for galleries and museums.
About Giclee Printing---
Giclee reproductions were originally developed in 1989 as a digital method of fine art printing. The word Giclee is French for "to spray on" or "to spray ink". The images are scanned and digitally stored in a computer and finally sent directly to a high resolution ink jet printer.
Unlike other printing methods, each image is sent to the ink jet printer individually. This advanced method has numerous advantages. Since each piece is individually produced, you can order one reproduction at a time if desired.
There is no obligation to finish an edition. Some of the advantages of Giclee reproductions: You can order prints as needed without large upfront obligations and storage problems associated with traditional lithography.
The technology provides incredible detail and brilliant color. The resolution (DPI or dots per inch) is actually higher than traditional lithography which results in crisp contrast with rich, intense color. With the proper surface treatment, you can even paint on top of the image (restrike the image) to produce another individual "mixed media" piece. The Factory Giclee" prints are produced on photographic luster paper and canvas. This gives each piece a similar look and feel to an original work of art.
Since the quality is superior to lithographs you can command a higher per unit selling price for the prints, resulting in higher profits.
