(PRWEB) August, 2003 -- The Wine Country Polo Club, Santa Rosa, formerly Santa Rosa Polo Club, celebrates its 35th anniversary with a special benefit tournament featuring Cavonnier the 1996 Kentucky Derby photo finisher", a sizzling polo tournament, live music and barbecue Sept. 21 , 12-4 p.m. at Trione Field near Oakmont.
Established in the summer of 1969, the club will host the Robert H. Walter Memorial Tournament to benefit Luther Burbank Center Music For Schools Program.
The afternoon event is held in honor of the late Robert H. Walter of Santa Rosas Vine Hill Ranch. He was an internationally recognized thoroughbred breeder and a strong supporter of equine sports.
Special guests include noted thoroughbred breeders and trainers, and representatives from Thoroughbred Magazine.
Live entertainment will be provided by Pams Country Jam, and the wine tasting tent will include some of the countys best wines.
Proceeds benefit the Luther Burbank Music For Schools Program, a non-profit program that has been providing more than 5,000 musical instruments to Sonoma County schools.
Research has shown that children have learned to play an instrument excel in other academic areas, and all children should have a chance to experience the art of music," said Henry Trione, whose fondest memories include being a member of the Fortuna High School march Band during the 1930s.
Each year the Wine Country Polo Club Santa Rosa provides fundraising games and tournaments for a variety of non-profit organizations, including Junior Achievement, and Luther Burbank Center Music For Schools Program, and the Santa Rosa Symphony.
Cost is $50 per person, $600 per reserved table (seats six).
