Community Theater Auditions

Stage Door Theatrical Company is holding open auditions for it's fall production of "Blithe Spirit" on September 2.

(PRWEB) August 25, 2003 -- Open auditions for Stage Door Theatrical Company's fall production of Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit" will be held on September 2 in Moore.

The ingenious classic comedy smash hit tells the story of novelist Charles Condomine. He invites into his placid country home an eccentric lady medium in order to learn the language of the occult. Little does Charles or his lovely second wife, Ruth, dream that the séance will summon back Charles' first wife, now "passed over" for seven years.

But the lady from beyond, still beautiful and mischievous, appears and torments Charles by reminding him of their days and nights together. Only Charles can see or hear her causing Ruth to suspect him of insanity. A plot to get Charles into a car wreck to hasten his journey to the "other side" goes hilariously awry, and with the help of our intrepid medium, Charles has to attempt to extricate himself from his ghostly problems.

Two men and five women are needed for this production. Auditions will include cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will be held each weeknight until the show opens. Open auditions will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2 at Stage Door on Broadway, located in the auditorium of the historic Old School Business Center at 201 North Broadway in Moore.

All community members are welcome to audition and absolutely no parts are pre-cast! Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No previous acting experience is required, so first-time actors are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested in volunteering for this production can sign up at the auditions. The organization will need help with fundraising, costumes, set construction, publicity, props and more!

"Blithe Spirit" will run October 17 - November 1 in Moore. Stage Door Theatrical Company is a community theatre serving the communities of Moore and Norman since 1992. Community theatre is, by its nature, a uniting factor; and while being beneficial for those involved in creating it, it is also beneficial for the community. People from all walks of life participate, forming new friendships, learning new skills, and gaining self-confidence.
