August, 2003 -- A community KidCare Photo ID event, is planned as part of the national campaign by The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to increase awareness about missing children and to educate parents about the steps they can take to help protect their children.

The purpose of the KidCare Photo ID event is to provide parents with a high quality photograph of their child that is placed in a nationally recognized safety record with current vital statistics free of cost to them. The KidCare Photo ID, the only NCMEC approved standard children's photo identification, provides parents with all the appropriate information necessary if their child is lost or abducted. I've enclosed a copy of the ID for your review.

This event on August 30th, 2003 is part of SUMMERFEST 2003, at the grounds of the Exposition Park Church of the Nazarene; 1419 West Vernon Avenue, Los Angeles, 90062. It starts at 10am to 3pm. Free photo, free hot dog and soda, free immunizations, free blood pressure and diabetes testings and other medical services. Medical services provided free of cost by the Compton Central Health Clinic Inc. Many other activities are provided to make this family event enjoyable by everyone.

No one likes to think that it could happen to them, but over a million children are reported missing each year. Authorities say the single most important tool in helping to find a missing child is a good quality photograph. In fact, one of seven featured children in a NCMEC photo distribution program are recovered because of that photo.

Of course nearly all parents have photographs of their children, but most do not have suitable photographs for release to law enforcement officials and the press should their child becomes missing. The type of photo that is needed is an unobstructed head and shoulders shot of the child alone which will be providing to parents free of charge at the KidCare Photo ID event.
