MALIBU FILM FESTIVAL UNVEILS 2003 LINEUP. 4th Annual MIFF to run September 26 -- October 2. Bret Carrs Directorial Debut Feature LOU World Premieres Opening Night. SHREK Co-director Vicky Jenson, Oliver Hudson & Paris Hiltons Short Films and Controversial Documentaries Produced by Randa Haines and Gale Anne Hurd.

Malibu, CA (PRWEB) August 26, 2003 --- The Fourth Annual Malibu International Film Festival will kick off Friday, September 26 and run until Thursday October 2, with all screenings being held at the New Malibu Theater at Cross Creek Plaza and the Malibu Public Library. Among the 2003 line-up are seven feature films, 10 documentaries and 33 short films, selected by a jury from an unprecedented 3,000 submissions from all over the world.

Festival founder and director David Katz commented, "The response to this years call-for-entries was very gratifying and frankly, overwhelming. What we started as a modest, local seaside festival has clearly hit a chord with filmmakers everywhere and really put us on the independent film festival map."

LOU, the directorial debut feature of filmmaker-actor Bret Carr, who also wrote the co-screenplay with Oscar-nominated screenwriter Quinn K. Redeker (The Deer Hunter) produced by Quinn Redeker, Mary Helen Shashy, Jim Golan, Alvin Malnik & Paul Michael Glaser will open the festival. Set in BROOKLYN, the film centers on Lou Benedetti, a boxing Phnom whose Achilles heel is his lifelong battle with stuttering -- an alienating and limiting roadblock that only disappears when hes in the ring.

When an ominous medical diagnosis sidelines Lou indefinitely, he is forced to face the ultimate challenger: himself Lous Theme was written by Academy Award-winning composer Bill Conti (Rocky) and Scored by two time Grammy Nominee Ashliegh Irwin. Film was produced by Mary Helen Shashy, Redeker, Paul Michael Glaser, Alvin Malnik, and Gail Posner.

Paul Mitchell is the festival-presenting sponsor, with Dukes, Vermeer Dutch Chocolate Cream Liqueur, Patron, Geyser Peak Winery and Fiji Water among the sponsors of the Opening Night party to be hosted by Dukes in Malibu. The Vermeer Dutch Chocolate Cream Liqueur Awards Night festivities, to be held at Taverna Tonys in Malibu is sponsored by Vermeer Dutch Chocolate Cream Liqueur, Paul Mitchell, Geyser Peak Winery, Patron Tequila and Fiji Water.

The Malibu Film Festival s mission is to focus on new undiscovered cutting edge films and filmmakers.
