Music Website Digs A New Niche.

Site Manager of online music magazine and guide says web publications are the future.

A young start up company has successfully launched a global music website. www.musosguide.com is the realisation of several burning ambitions, a ridiculously intense love of music, a lot of hard work and some canny use of technology.

A large and unique part of the site is the city guide section (focussing on the music scenes within the area). The guides cover cities worldwide with more being added all the time.

The rest of the site has a magazine feel with features, reviews, regular columns, classified ads, a section dedicated to new artists, events profiles, gig listings and more. The site aims to provide a geographical and historical context to all the new music out there and provide a welcoming and entertaining forum for lovers of all genres. These simple aims are facilitated by the selective and sensible use of many online tools and emerging web technologies. Forums, interactivity, online polls, and soon the ability to host MP3s from unsigned bands... all this is only possible as a new media publication. Being web-based has meant that, not only is www.musosguide.com free of the strangling production costs of traditional media, but there is scope for increased communication between user and producer serves to advance the reader experience.

The site was dreamt up by music lovers, is written by music lovers and is enjoyed by music lovers, isnt that exactly how a music website should be?!" says Co-Founder and Site Manager Holly Noseda.

Personally I think it's a shame when a publication aims at one specific genre, it's completely understandable within traditional media because of the importance of niches and the constraints of production costs, but I don't I know a single person who says "you know, I like Rock and Rock alone" everybody likes to dip their toes into other forms of music and that's really what we want to encourage."

We have wonderful writers who have all bought a unique flavour to the site, we have tried to tamper very little with their words to keep the site honest and the sentiments real. While we maintain a very high standard of writing, we have a lot of unique personalities running through the site, which makes for an exciting and refreshing 'publication" says Holly.

We are always looking for unsigned talent to include in our Unsigned Directory and aim to review any music that we are sent from established and unsigned acts - and we will always be honest!"
