New Updates to JP Mobile SureWave Enterprise Server Give Mobile Computing a Boost
Wider set of capabilities means more functionality for mobile workers
and more control for IT
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) August 29, 2003 -- JP Mobileâ, Inc. (www.jpmobile.com), a leading software provider that extends and manages corporate data on handheld devices, today announced availability of SureWaveâ Enterprise Server 4.0 (SureWave). This software gives enterprises flexibility to securely extend applications to their mobile workers on Palm, Pocket PC, RIM and Symbian handheld devices. The solution provides secure, bi-directional synchronized access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino groupware, as well as the ability to deploy field applications needed by mobile workers.
Mobile employees can now more easily and quickly register a device and install the client software in a single step from a Web-based interface. Using a patent-pending process and technology, the users configuration information, with the exception of the password, is automatically loaded on the device during the installation process. The administrator can now spend less time training and assisting new users. In addition, the primary administrator can now add multiple secondary administrative accounts for help desk personnel to access SureWave and add, delete or monitor users.
With growing concerns for data security, SureWave gives enterprises a secure, direct connection between mobile devices and data behind the corporate firewall. Using the new version of SureWave, IT managers can safely extend new features to the mobile workforce including attachment viewing, access to a global address book and e-mail message filtering. Mobile employees can choose to synchronize via wireless connections, such as CDMA/GSM/GPRS networks and Wi-Fi access points, or device cradles.
Mobile employees will also benefit from new functionality included in this new version of SureWave. New features include attachment viewing on the device, access to the global address book, e-mail message filtering and user selection of specific server-side subfolders to access increase the users productivity . Also, new e-mail and calendar items are now automatically sent to Pocket PC devices, matching the capability of keeping users always in touch, that was already offered in SureWave on Palm, RIM and Symbian devices. Finally, RIM users already experiencing the always on" benefit of using SureWave now have the ability to request more" of an e-mail message from the device to control airtime charges.
Our mobile employees love the new capabilities of SureWave Enterprise Server 4.0," said John Reed, IT manager of Energy Northwest. They are taking advantage of attachment viewing and access to our global address book. Im also impressed with the way SureWave installs the client software, which makes my job easier. SureWave also minimizes the amount of time I spend supporting mobile users accessing corporate data."
SureWave provides a single, consistent user interface across Palm, Pocket PC, RIM and Symbian platforms that minimizes training and support costs," said Kevin Byrd, vice president of marketing of JP Mobile. Other vendors claim multi-device platform support, but only SureWave provides wireless and cradle-based bi-directional synchronization for all applications and device platforms. Users can use the functionally rich device applications, without a persistent data connection such as on an airplane or when they are out of wireless coverage. We are proud to offer enhancements that provide more functionality to mobile workers and, at the same time, more control for the IT organization."
