JUST A FEW CATS BASSIST ALVIN J. GARRETT TO BE HONORED WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY RESOLUTION SEPTEMBER 9TH
Alvin J. Garrett, Founder/CEO of The Music Caterers, LLC, which manages the bands Just A Few Cats and Freestyle Nation, will receive a County Resolution from the Jefferson County Commission of Alabama. Garrett is currently touring as the bassist on the "2003 American Idols Live! Tour" with friend and business partner, Ruben Studdard.
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) August 27, 2003 --- Local businessman and rising celebrity, Alvin J. Garrett, bassist for the band Just A Few Cats and the "2003 American Idols Live! Tour" five-piece band, has put Birmingham in a positive light in every city hes performed in with close friend and business partner, Ruben Studdard. In return, Jefferson County Commissioner Shelia Smoot plans to honor his achievements publicly with a County Resolution.
"We are so proud of Alvin," said Commissioner Smoot, who oversees Roads & Transportation and Community Development in Jefferson County. "We want to thank him and encourage him to continue representing Jefferson County locally and nationally."
Garrett is the founder and "Chef" Executive Officer of the local entertainment-management company, The Music Caterers, LLC, which he co-owns and operates with Studdard, who is Vice President. Most notably, the company manages the duos franchise Soul/R&B band, Just A Few Cats, as well as Garretts recording band out of Atlanta, Freestyle Nation, which boasts Paul Morton, Jr. as its producer and lead singer.
Garrett faced off with over 30 other musicians back in June when he auditioned to join the five-piece band for the "2003 American Idols Live! Tour," which played to a sold-out crowd at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Arena on August 15th, and closed in Anaheim, CA on August 31st.
Most recently, Just A Few Cats, directed by Garrett, performed with Studdard at the 2003 United Way Kick-off Campaign, donating $200.00 to assist the non-profit organization's community-driven campaign, and then hit the field to perform with Studdard at half-time during the nationally-televised UAB Blazers' football game against Southern Mississippi. They also performed with Studdard during his free "Believe in Alabama" concerts, held in Mobile and Birmingham on September 2nd and September 5th, respectively, which were organized by the Alabama Partnership for Progress to encourage Alabamians to visit the polls this Tuesday, September 9th and vote on Gov. Bob Riley's Tax Reform Plan.
Commissioner Smoot will present Garrett with the County Resolution during the Jefferson County Commission meeting on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at 10:00am, which will be held at:
