August, 2003 -- When creating a web presence for your company, make sure your site gives an ideal sales presentation. Your web site provides an international image for your organization. Potential customers may only call on your web site and from that experience, determine when and if they will do business with you. Don't miss this opportunity. Like a good salesperson, your web site should:
Be uniformed, looking sharp and consistent through out.
Be organized. All documents, forms and other information should be current, easy to find, read and review.
Never misquote prices. All pricing and other product information should be regularly updated
Not confuse, but explain the details in clear and concise language. Avoid or explain jargon.
Be prompt. The site should load quickly and deliver all promised content on time.
Be available and willing to serve the customer - on the customer's time and convenience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even holidays.
Be full of product facts and useful information. Like a salesperson, your web site should have significant product knowledge.
Not pressure, but convince through explanation and organization of facts and values
Not worry about commission, but worry about providing results for its customers and creating return business.
Treat every inquiry equally. All inquiries and orders should receive a prompt response and a system in place to manage such requests.
Provide communication to every part of the organization. Visitors should be able to find appropriate contact information by visiting the site and an appropriate method of communication provided. Staff should also monitor page requests and other statistics to identify potential bugs and bad links.
Gain accounts and customers overseas as well as across the street. The site should be easy to use and be able to accommodate all customers, including individual inquiries and orders from all regions.
