Advanced Tips for making your web site more efficient and effective

August, 2003 -- Promote your business online and make the visit more efficient for your customers. Take a serious look at your web site and how well it creates a positive image and experience.

Place primary contact information prominently -- business name, phone, address, e-mail and in many cases, hours of operation go on the front page

Place your web store prominently. Too often the web store is hard to find and management wonders why sales are slow

Time is money. Although fast internet speeds are more common, consider SOHOs, field and sales reps on dial-up access

Use e-mail addresses with the company's domain. Instead of acmeinc@aol.com, use info@acmeinc.com or sales@acmeinc.com

Consider getting a better domain name. If you don't know or can't remember your own web site address, neither will customers

Use and update meta tags. Search engines use meta tags to select sites for display upon a web search and sites for its directories. Without these, you are missing critical opportunities for search engine placement and web traffic

Offer a site for wireless phones with internet access. More and more wireless internet applications are coming online and not all display a typical web window
