Washington, DC (PRWEB) August 31, 2003 -- On 9 October, 2003, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of AOL Jim Kimsey will host a fundraising event for GradPAC in downtown Washington D.C. I am extremely delighted that Jim Kimsey agreed to host our fundraiser this year, and I know I speak on behalf of all of GradPAC," said Shawn Olds, Executive Director of GradPAC. Senator Reed and Congressman Shimkus got our year off to a running start this past May, and were looking to take it to the next level for 2004-and with a slate of exceptional candidates already laying the groundwork for a banner year next year, we have begun to turn the tide."
Americas history is replete with accomplishments of graduates of our Academies. Lets put some of that great leadership in Congress," said Federal Judge Eugene R. Sullivan (Ret.), Director of the GradPAC Executive Board and Chairman and CEO of The Gavel Consulting Group.
GradPAC was organized approximately one year ago as a non-partisan political action committee to support academy graduates from all five service academies seeking office in the US Congress by achieving two broad goals: First, it is dedicated to increasing the number of academy graduates-trained leaders of character during their time in the military-in Congress.
Second, it is intensely focused on bolstering the elected ranks with representatives devoted to the oft-forgotten ideals of duty, honor, country-selfless public servants who are also steadfast in their support of, and intimately familiar with, the national defense needs of the United States.
Today, only 28 percent of the Members of Congress are veterans and of those only four are academy graduates. GradPAC is dedicated to increasing those numbers so that academy graduates can continue a lifetime of service to the nation as elected officials in Washington.
