Hispanic Chamber President to Represent Californias Latino-Owned Businesses

Business Owner Elected Secretary of California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce

SANTA BARBARA, CA. (PRWEB) September 3, 2003 -- Alex Rodriguez, President of the Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SBHCC), was elected Secretary of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC) at the organizations 24th annual conference in San Diego last weekend.

Rodriguez, 39, is currently President of the SBHCC and will assume the state-wide post 30 days after the election which took place on August 23. Rodriguez is CEO of VirtualHispanic (www.VirtualHispanic.com), a Hispanic market communications firm based in Santa Barbara.

"I am honored to have been elected by my peers at the annual convention in San Diego," said Rodriguez. I was able to meet with representatives and voting delegates from close to fifty Hispanic chambers in California and impress on them my desire and ability to effectively represent the needs of their membership."

The primary goal of the CHCC is to represent the business interests of over 600,000 Latino-owned businesses in California. Over 60 local Hispanic chambers of commerce are members of the CHCC. As Secretary of the organization Rodriguez will serve on the executive board and will be involved in strategic planning and continuing the groups growth in the coming years. The term is for two years.

Rodriguez, a native of Southern California, has been active in the community of Santa Barbara for several years, and has served on the board of the SBHCC for over three years, initially as Secretary and currently as President.

"I strongly believe in the mission of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, which in part is to strengthen the states economy by supporting business growth and development," Rodriguez said. "My background and experience as a business owner, current president of our local Hispanic chamber and professional experience have prepared me well for this opportunity and I am eager to serve."
