RUSH LIMBAUGH/MATT DRUDGE GET "MUGGED."
Mug maker pays tribute to "The Right People." Limbaugh, Drudge, Schlafly and McCaslin lauded.
ST. LOUIS, MO -- To get ahead in life, you have to know "The Right People." Now, it's easier than ever. In fact, you can have a cup of coffee with "The Right People" every morning in your own home. That's because "The Right People" is a new line of coffee mugs paying tribute to influential persons on the right side of the political spectrum, the leaders of the conservative movement.
Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, cyberscribe Matt Drudge, grassroots political activist Phyllis Schlafly, and Washington Times columnist John McCaslin are the first in a series of conservative leaders to be immortalized in ceramic at F.R. Duplantier's Politickles Shop (http://www.cafeshops.com/politickles). Each of the four "Right People" mugs features a limerick devoted to that particular conservative leader.
"Rush Hour" is the title of the limerick on the Rush Limbaugh "Right People" mug. It captures the intense reaction that Rush provokes from fans and foes alike: "When combative conservatives hush/And the brazenest liberals blush,/We know that the fun/Has already begun/And the nation is listening to Rush!"
The Drudge mug pokes fun at "Pro Scribes," those old-fashioned, pedigreed reporters who sneer at their intrepid internet rival: "The 'professional' journalists fudge/When asked why they hold such a grudge:/They can't bear to tell us/That they simply are jealous,/Being scooped by that 'amateur' Drudge."
"Eagle Formula" is the title of the limerick devoted to Eagle Forum founder and anti-ERA activist Phyllis Schlafly. It compares Mrs. Schlafly's efforts to defend the American way of life from the subversive schemes of rabid feminists to the work of an antibiotic overcoming disease: "There's a cure for the liberal bacillus/That's invaded our system to kill us:/Overcome ERA/(In pill form or spray!)/With the powerful antigen 'Phyllis.'"
Politickles Shop proprietor F.R. Duplantier begins each day with a cup of coffee and John McCaslin's "Inside the Beltway" column in the Washington Times. "First Things First," the limerick on the McCaslin mug, documents what has become an early morning ritual for conservatives across the country: "Before I start to hasslin'/With daily chores and rasslin'/To make ends meet,/I must complete/My coffee and McCaslin."
"Right People" mugs are the latest additions to an array of manic merchandise available at the Politickles Shop, a new online emporium established by Duplantier, syndicated columnist and author of the book Politickles, a collection of political limericks.
Online auction giant eBay has banned Duplantier's most popular t-shirt from its website. The "Osama bin Rodham" shirt combines the names and likenesses of New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Duplantier describes the composite image as "two terrorists in one."
Like all merchandise at the Politickles Shop, "Right People" mugs can be customized and ordered in bulk at discount prices.
