September 2, 2003 - Howell, Michigan As the retail record business sheds it's skin and morphs into to something new, TCL Special Order Imports (www.tclimports.com) florishes by serving a growing market of frustrated music buyers who can't satisfy their thirsty ears at the local mega store and can't be bothered with downloading.

TCL is a unique "special order" service that orders CD's from European & Australian suppliers one at a time specifically for each individual customer on a daily basis. Why? Because they're just not available here in the USA but are readily available overseas and big retailers don't want to bother with "special orders". These orders vary widely in genre and can include for instance; a new cd single from a major artist that has no North American release; a classical music box set of 100 Bach CDs for a university library; new releases by bands that you've never heard of on small European labels and re-issues of long out of print titles by record companies that specialize in mining the deep catalogs of the European majors.

TCL customers are hard core music lovers who will pay a premium price to get exactly what they want and wait to get it; whether it be classical, world, rock or hip hop. "I've been looking for this album for years!", is a common comment when a customer calls.

The TCL website is very rudimentary .There is no shopping cart. No distrubing banner ads or pop ups. Orders are placed by e-mail or by phone to the 800 number that's prominently displayed on the homepage (an item sorely lacking at Amazon or Ebay). The entire catalog is listed in alphabetical order broken up into sections very much like an old fashioned phone book. "Most of our customers already know what they want by the time they get here. Classical music buyers call us with a Phillips record number they've found on another site or in a magazine and are ready to order because they couldn't find it listed anywhere else.", Conner said. The data on the website is updated once a month with a whole new catalog, while TCL's main computer is updated daily with new information regarding out of print items and new releases from all over the world.

TCL also operates ALL Christmas Music.com (www.allchristmasmusic.com) a website that specializes in Christmas music imported from other countries. Strangely enough, the top selling title on the site is Glen Campbell's "That Christmas Feeling" long out of print in America but readily available in Europe.
