Swiss Society meets Opera
Swiss Mezzosoprano Milena Bendakova headlines the classical music concert in the Escoffier Ballroom of the Grand Hotel National on the shore of Lake Lucerne Switzerland on Saturday 27 September 2003
Milena Bendáková, Mezzosoprano was born in Zug, Switzerland and has a Czech family background. She studied voice in Milan, Italy with Vivien Memo and then in New York, Frankfurt and London. She completed her Voice Diploma at the Lucerne Conservatory. As a Lieder and Concert singer she has performed with Marcello Viotti, Johannes Meister, Thomas Koutnik, Jane Stell and Andres Joho and Andrew Dunscombe.
Milena has given a number of chamber music concerts including with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra at Lucernes KKL concert hall, Ensemble La Partita and the Basel Bach Trumpet Ensemble. In opera she has worked together with Franco Gentilesca, Mignon Dunn, Sherrill Milnes, Georges Delnon and Michael Lochar.
As part of her concert series Zigeunerabend (Gypsy Music Evening) she performed a benefit concert for the childrens charity UNICEF in London. The CD of the same name was released in December 2001.
Her next CD will be recorded early in 2004.
In May 2001 Milena set up the Senzaltro Foundation to support young, talented opera singers in Switzerland.
