Novel of Spiritual Truths, Temporary Vows, now available online

A new novel is being test-marketed in e-book (PDF) format to offer prospective print publishers proof of its marketability. This unique idea can also give readers an edge by providing an inexpensive book form and a chance to read new books before they ever hit the bookstore shelves.

If youve always liked to be the first to read a book, this ideas for you.

Megan Fox Knoxs new novel Temporary Vows is now available in e-book format at http://www.writing2inspire.com/showcase/TemporaryVows.htm. The cost? Under $6 (U.S.). Why so low? The goal is to test-market for print publication, and e-books arent expensive to produce.

Temporary Vows pits a middle-aged, dysfunctional housewife against a soon-to-be monk in what publisher Donald Ellis of Creative Arts Book Company has called a wonderful latent coming-of-age story." In search of authenticity, Lollie hires on with a traveling carnival and meets young David, making his way west to join a monastery. This unlikely duo strike up a friendship as they search for spiritual truths and rethink their commitments and opportunities.

Knox elevates what seems at first to be a simple midlife crisis into a bold quest for meaning and self-awareness. With insight and imagination, she makes Lollie's story a book that speaks thoughtfully to everyone searching for something better," said novelist Neil Connelly, author of St. Michaels Scales (Scholastic Press, 2002).

The publisher, Writing2Inspire.com, is based in Manchester, England. Founder Debra Blissetts plan is to track sales figures for the e-book so that new authors like Knox can offer print publishers and agents proof of their novels marketability. That same plan offers readers the opportunity to read the newest books at a fraction of the price of traditional books, and before they ever hit the bookstore shelves.

Traditional publishers are cautious of authors without an established record, particularly in lean economic times, but e-books could offer a solution. Knoxs e-book is emailed to buyers in PDF format, readable with Adobe Acrobat Reader software that comes standard on most newer computers and is free to download at the Adobe website. The book is suitable for printing or reading on any standard desktop, laptop or handheld computer.

Were out to prove that the novel has a definite niche in the traditional marketplace," Knox said. Its a win-win situation for readers too because the e-book is inexpensive."

Temporary Vows is Knoxs first novel. She is currently at work on a second novel. Having worked as a journalist, public relations writer, technical writer and corporate marketing writer for some 20 years, Knox now makes her home in Lake Charles, La., where she teaches online speech and English classes for Florida-based Keiser College and is completing the Master of Fine Arts program at McNeese State University. She holds masters degrees in both communication and English from the University of Southern Mississippi, and an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi.
