Evans in the Primary Race with Congressman Becerra

Los Angeles, CA Mervin Evans, the only declared Democratic challenger to Congressman Xavier Becerra, CA # 31 is asking Attorney General Ashcroft to propose a National Uniform Child Protection Act, with a 1-Strike 50 year prison term for sex crimes against children.

Evans indicated that he will ask Ashcroft to support a 5 Cent Beer-Can Tax for better law enforcement resources to protect minor children.

The proposal is very close to a California Ballot measure Evans is sponsoring for the 2004 election cycle.
