Metro Cafe not only offers some of the best food in San Luis Obispo, but it also offers Wireless Internet Access
Just in time for the Week of Welcome at Cal Poly, the Metro Cafe in the Downtown Centre of San Luis Obispo offers wireless Internet Access.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (PRWEB) September 9, 2003 -- Wireless Internet Hot Spots are HAUTE! Students returning to Cal Poly this year have some exciting new places to hang out this year; one of them is the Metro Cafe in the Downtown Centre of San Luis Obispo.
HauteSpot Networks, the premiere WLAN service provider on the Central Coast, just commissioned a new site at the Metro Cafe, in the heart of San Luis Obispo.
Using state of the art, standards compliant, radio networking equipment and design standards, HauteSpot Networks provides coverage over most of the Downtown Centre. Visitors to downtown San Luis Obispo can now surf the Web from any of the restaurants or shops in the Centre, but the best location for surfing is the Metro Cafe.
The Metro Cafe was recently written up in the National Geographic Traveler for its outstanding food. So why not enjoy some of the best food San Luis Obispo has to offer, while you use the Internet to research that term paper you have due next week?
We are really excited about working with the Metro Cafe," said Bob Ehlers of HauteSpot Networks. The owners of the Metro Cafe have a vision for combining excellent food, outstanding service, and technology in one business, and we are pleased to be helping them fulfill that vision."
Customers at the Metro Cafe, and in surrounding areas, can access the Internet using a wireless connection from their laptop computer or PDA. All the hardware they need is a wireless network adapter card (HauteSpot Networks sells long range 802.11a/b/g network adapter cards on their web site).
When a customer first establishes their wireless connection, they are presented with a welcome screen where they can enter their user account information. Customers can subscribe on an hourly, daily or monthly subscription basis and can pay through a variety of methods, including credit card or with prepaid cards available for sale at the Metro Cafe. Rates are $2.99 per hour, $5.99 per day, or $29.99 per month. Roaming users from other affiliate networks such as Boingo, GRIC and iPASS can also use the HauteSpots Network.
Now that we have the infrastructure installed, we will be working with the team at the Metro Cafe to deliver innovative services that leverage that infrastructure. We have a lot of ideas and think that there are a lot of fun events that we can jointly sponsor using wireless technology," said Ehlers.
Wireless Internet analysts are predicting that the current $2 billion WI-FI industry will expand at a compounded growth rate of 30 percent to nearly a $6 billion industry. This would put WI-FI wireless Internet access on par with household name brands like Budweiser, and in line with growth in the mobile PC industry.
