Evangelistic Association Announces 2004 Mission Goals
Freedom Ministries International, Inc. an evangelistic association, announced this week the preliminary mission goals for mission work in Honduras for the year 2004. A combination of continued work by missionaries on the field and mission teams will lead many to Christ this year.
God is at work changing lives in the country of Honduras and Freedom Ministries International, Inc. has had the opportunity to be a small part of what God has been doing there since 1997. In May of 1997 Evangelist Timothy Paul Posey and Dr. Randall Broome of World Evangelism, Inc. spent 8 days preaching and ministering in the vast mission field of Honduras. What Posey found, changed his life forever.
Honduras is known as the poorest country in all of the Americas, with an average income of only $850 per year. There are basically two classes of people in Honduras, the very rich and the poor, with a small emerging middle class. Hurricane Mitch reeked havoc on this poor country with the capital city of Tegucigalpa reporting 54 inches of rainfall in an 18 hour period on October 31, 1998. More than 10,000 people were reported dead or missing. Following this natural disaster, money poured in from churches and Christian Organizations all over the world. However, today many still do not know the saving message of Jesus Christ. They know His name, but they dont have enough knowledge about the Bible or about Him to know that they must trust Him as their Lord and Savior.
Freedom Ministries International, Inc. a conservative Christian mission organization based in Brookhaven, Mississippi has the goal of completing the following short-term missionary trips for Honduras in 2004.
Construction Teams:
There is a need for 6 construction teams for construction projects at churches throughout Honduras. The duration of each teams stay can be arranged from 7 -- 14 days. Team leaders are needed to coordinate the project with guidance from North American staff in Honduras who know and understand the needs of Americans on a mission trip. Fluent English speaking translators will be provided. Team members would be involved in the construction of church buildings, Sunday School Rooms, etc. normally constructed of concrete, concrete blocks, tile or finished concrete floors. There will be skilled Honduran workers familiar with Honduran building practices to help guide workers in the construction project. Each team will be responsible to raise funds needed for their project. Most of these churches are in very poor areas and have a difficult time even supporting their pastor, which many times is the only staff member. VBS Teams:
There is a need for 2 - 4 Vacation Bible School teams of youth and adults to work in local churches to provide a Vacation Bible School to the children. Teams should be ready for a life changing experience, many youth will see extreme poverty for the first time in their lives, and leave with a new understanding of how very fortunate they are. Each team is responsible to raise the funds necessary to provide materials, and crafts. Also the team is responsible for collecting small toys, stickers, small games, etc. which can be used as prizes during the week when children learn a Bible Verse or answer a question. Note: Youth must be mature and ready for this type of mission experience, they also must accompanied by a parent and have a notarized form stating that they have the other parents permission to leave the U.S. This is a requirement of the Airlines and Central American Law. Pastor Training Schools
There is a need for trained pastors and church staff to assist in teaching classes through the Timothy Project Pastor and Church Leader Training Program ( http://www.KingdomGrowth.com/timothy/ ) Teachers will be required to purchase an English version of the book to be taught, unless they are fluent in Spanish. For English speakers, a translator will be provided. Teachers must teach the course from the book and not teach other doctrine which disagrees with our statement of faith located on our website. At present we are teaching 8 one week classes per year. Due to the nature of this project it is open to 1 or 2 members on a team.
