Rare Canary Dogs to converge in Missouri.
The United Perro de Presa Canario Club (UPPCC) is hosting its first Specialty on September 13th and 14th , 2003 at Purina Farms in Gray Summit Missouri.The Perro de Presa Canario is a rare breed of dog that was developed on the Canary Islands in the 1970`s as a livestock guardian and holding dog. The Presa is large,muscular, and very athletic.
The UPPCC was succesful in obtainng recognition of the Breed By the UKC in 2002 and is dedicated to preserving the Perro de Presa Canario in historic name and coat color. Joe Brown, Sectretary of the Club says " We are very excited to get together with so many great people and awesome dogs, we have worked hard to form a cohesive group dedicated to this magnificent breed"
Presa Canario Dogs from all over the United States and Canada will attend.
There wil be a temperment test by the American Temperment Test Society, a lecture by the world renown author Fred Lanting. There will also be demonstrations of weight pulling., obedience, and personal protection. The general public is welcome to attend and talk to breeders and trainers of this rare breed.
