Comodo continues support of CHES international cryptographic conference

Manchester, UK, 8 September 2003. Comodo, the internet security specialists, is reinforcing its commitment to the advancing of cryptographic techniques through its support and sponsorship of the CHES (Cryptographic Hardware & Embedded Systems) conference, held this week in Cologne. Dr Colin Walter, Head of Cryptography, Comodo Research Lab is Program Chair for the conference, one of the largest cryptography conferences in the world today.

Providing a vital link between the academic research community and industry, CHES provides a forum for the sharing of new results and solutions. The fifth CHES conference will focus on all aspects of cryptographic hardware and security in embedded systems, with up to 200 participants coming from academia, commerce and government organizations. Of particular interest are contributions that describe new methods for efficient hardware implementations and high-speed software for embedded systems such as smart cards, microprocessors and DSPs.

Commenting about CHES, Melih Abdulhayoglu, Chief Security Architect, Comodo Group, said Comodo recognizes the importance of bringing together the latest academic research with leading industry players to develop commercially-viable security solutions for the benefit of all online users." He continued Comodo is proud to support the CHES conference and we look forward to this years event being the success it thoroughly deserves to be."

Colin Walter has a formidable international reputation in the design of hardware and algorithms for the implementation of RSA cryptography. A senior member of the IEEE, Colin is most well-known to the international community for his long term research into Montgomery modular multiplication and, in particular, his invention of the first ever purely locally connected systolic modular multiplier array which is now the basis of the fastest SSL accelerator chips in the world.

Since forming in 1998, Comodo has operated a dedicated research and development lab, with R&D headquarters in UK and members of the R&D team based all around the world. The Comodo Research Lab is focused on the fundamental research and development of security solutions through its dedicated team of engineers and ensures the successful operation of the Comodo infrastructures.
