D.C. AREA ROCK BANDS UNITE TO BENEFIT LOCAL YOUTH
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA (PRWEB) September 10, 2003 - Six of the D.C. area's best and brightest bands are coming together to raise awareness and funding for the Alternative House Abused and Homeless Childrens Refuge.
The Alternative House Benefit Concert will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 7 PM at the historic State Theatre in Falls Church, VA. The concert features local bands: The Pharmacy Prophets, Mike Holden, Shane Hines, Lamont, the Worry Stones and Quitter UK (featuring Todd Watts of emmet swimming and members of Smartbomb). The performers are donating their time, energy, support and, most importantly, music to this unique benefit concert. All of the event proceeds will go directly to Alternative House to help support the programs youth center and community outreach efforts.
The participating artists, who have accomplished everything from major label record deals and national tours to critical acclaim and performances across the world, are sharing a stage for a single night that should not be missed. The bands, promoters and support staff are working to make this a benefit show in the truest sense of the word.
The idea for the show originated with members of the Pharmacy Prophets, who rallied support from the other bands and organized the event. Jeff Jones of the Pharmacy Prophets commented, "One of the appealing things about doing this show is the chance to really make it a community event. All the bands have strong local ties, and its a great fit to have the show at the State Theatre. We are working together to make a big impact for Alternative House, a great local organization doing wonderful things for the local community. This is where local musicians can really make a difference."
Tickets are $10 and are available through Ticketmaster.
