Smart VENT® Inc. announces Overhead Door Model Floodvent for Garages

New product released by New Jersey foundation flood vent manufacturer.

New Application -- You are designing or building a structure with a garage and there is not enough exterior wall space to fit the required number of flood vents. This is most prevalent in condominiums and townhouses where the side walls are interior to adjacent units and the front wall consists almost entirely of the garage door and the entry door. The back wall alone is not enough because flood vents have to be located in at least two different walls. What do you do?

Solution -- Specify two Smart VENT® Model # 1540-524 OHD Flood VENTs to be installed in the garage door and one Smart VENT® Model # 1540-520 Flood VENTs to be installed in the back wall. We recommend our Flood VENT models because they are insulated and weather sealed. One 8" x 16" Smart VENT® is rated to cover 200 sq/ft of enclosed area. A 22 x 25 garage only needs three of our vents. All OHD models come with complete instructions, template and stainless steel hardware.

Existing Application -- Your flood insurance premium skyrockets or you are told before settlement you will not be able to get flood insurance. Your insurance agent explains that your garage needs hydrostatic foundation flood vents. The air vents no longer qualify as flood vents or there are no vents at all.

Solution -- This is easy. Measure the enclosed area and divide by 200. If you have 550 square feet, you would need three Smart VENT® flood vents. Install one in the back wall and two in the garage door. Remove one of your existing air vents that is no more than 12" above the ground outside or cut a new hole in the rear wall and install one Smart VENT®. Use the template provided to mark the bottom garage door panel. Saw two rectangular cutouts and drill four holes for each cutout. Install one Smart VENT® OHD Model in each cutout with the hardware provided. Complete installation instructions are provided.
