A Majority of Americans are Supporting Terrorism Since 9-11.
Analysis over the last two years conducted by the Center for Mental Efficiency indicates that Americans are supporting terrorism without actually realizing it. The only way terrorism can be effective is to inspire overwhelming fear or anxiety" states Seran Wilkie, Director, Center for Mental Efficiency, America is in a mental war yet 80-90% of our activities have been focused on the physical aspects of terrorism. To combat and neutralize terrorism Americans will be required to break the old habits of our minds.
The event that occurred in New York City on September 11, 2001 brought to the attention of Americans that terrorism is real. During the months after the collapse of World Trade Center the media continued to emphasize the physical aspects of the terrorist attack. However the main reason for this attack was to plant the seeds of fear in all Americans. The decline in air travel after 9-11 indicates that the terrorists knew what they were doing. Rather than manage our emotions Americans elected not to fly. This not only threw the airline industry into a dive it also crippled the other supporting industries (hotel, car rental, food and beverage,...).
The good news is that most Americans now believe there is something called terrorism. It should also be noted that we have been living with terrorism in our schools (bullies) and in the corporations in which we work. Prior to 9-11 Americans found it difficult to understand the effect that terrorism could have on individuals. The violence in our schools indicates that the terrorists or bully can have a devastating effect on the mental and physical state of individuals.
In order for America to win the war on terrorism much more emphasis must be placed on improving our ability to manage our mental state. Americans must not only get more physical exercise but they also want to start a mental exercise program. A program should consist of the following in order to protect our families from the effects of terrorism;
• First: Increase our awareness of what terrorism is trying to accomplish
• Second: Recognize that terrorism is dependent on fear
• Third: Learn how to manage fear
• Fourth Implement exercises to manage fear and enjoy life
• Fifth: Congratulate yourself and tell others what you have done
America can defeat the terrorist and at the same time take control of their lives by focusing more on taking control of their mental state. Now is the time for all Americans to reprioritize their efforts and look to the future.
