QualityLogic Inc. has released PageSense 4, the latest version of its industry-standard printer performance measurement tool. PageSense has been used by major players in the printer industry since 1999 to perform automated throughout performance testing of their printer and MFP products using test files from popular applications. PC Magazine will once again use PageSense, including test files from PageSense 4, to measure printing performance in its upcoming 2003 Printer Blockbuster issue.

“PageSense has evolved as the industry standard in measuring throughput performance of printers and multi-function devices,” said Dave Jollota, president of QualityLogic’s Test Tool Division. “We are pleased that our latest release has once again been adopted by PC Magazine for use in their printer performance testing.”

“We’ve enjoyed a relationship with QualityLogic for several years, and we are currently using the latest PageSense software rev for our annual printer round-up,” said Glenn Menin, Project Leader at PC Magazine Labs. “I find the PageSense automated process improves our efficiency and illuminates each printer’s strengths and bottlenecks.”

PageSense 4 contains real world test files for the latest versions of popular applications from Adobe, Corel, Microsoft, and others. Using Rational Visual Test as its automation platform, PageSense automatically launches the applications and test files, sends them to the printer or MFP under test, and, through the use of an infrared paper sensor, records when the printed pages exit the printer. Return to Application, Time to First Page, and Time to Last Page are all recorded and presented in a substantially improved reporting format. Additionally, companies can now automate their printer driver compatibility testing process by using the capability in PageSense 4 to add additional test files and scripts.
