Auction Set For Lake County Development Site

David M. Kaufman, CCIM, a principal of Schaumburg-based DK Realty Partners, LLC will conduct an auction of a prime 10-acre parcel of land located on the northwest corner of Peterson Road and route 83 in Grayslake. The auction is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 1:30 p.m. at the Country Squire Restaurant, 19133 W. Belvidere Road in Grayslake.

For more than 25 years, the Golden County Vegetable Stand has occupied the corner of these two highly-trafficked roads. The Titus family has run this community business and farmed the acreage behind it for two generations. Mike Titus, who was know throughout the area for his love of conversation, operated the stand even though he lost his arm in a farming accident. When he passed away, his son Tony and Tonys wife, Debbie took over the farm and the stand.

Kaufman, an auctioneer with more than 30 years experience, says The Titus family is using the auction method because they feel it is fast and fair. They believe that the property has strong development potential. With sewer and water being installed only a few hundred feet down the road and indications from the city of Grayslake that they would look favorably on annexation of the Titus property, this a great opportunity for buyers."

The property at the newly-improved intersection is in an area where population and income levels are steadily increasing. It is adjacent to Grayslake and Mundelein in unincorporated Fremont Township and is zoned for agriculture. But indications are that if, as expected, the property is purchased by a developer or investor interested in its commercial use, the zoning could soon be changed.
