Espial Scaleable HTML Content Rendering Engine Fuels Advanced Set of Features And Services for ADB DVB-MHP box

IBC, Amsterdam-(PRWEB)Sept. 12, 2003--Espial, the leaders in TV application Software announced today it has been selected as a preferred supplier of software for Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB.) Advanced Digital Broadcast is a knowledge-based and technology oriented organization that designs and integrates highly sophisticated software and hardware systems for digital TV. With more than two million deployed set-top box units, ADB is a leading supplier to customers in 15 countries around the world.

"This demo highlights revenue-generating applications that can deployed with no porting using the Espial Suite for TV. Espial Escape provides the scalability and the MHP/OCAP functionality that is crucial for our worldwide deployments," said Rick Smith, VP, Sales, at ADB. "ADB's and Espial's leadership in technology development is clearly what is needed for the TV operators to bring advanced services to market quickly."

The technology collaboration enables ADB further market penetration into deployments that are evolving to MHP. MHP/OCAP middleware delivers a variety of expanded benefits for the cable operator, including the ability to download new applications independent of the hardware vendor, consistency in the user interface and more application options. MHP enables full media convergence in set-top boxes providing the most advanced interactive television experience possible.

"We are pleased to be working with ADB to demonstrate how Espial Suite for TV can be deployed on a wide-scale basis quickly and effectively," said Dr. Neale Foster, Director of Marketing, TV at Espial. "As operators/broadcasters and software developers look for cost-effective solutions that improve time-to-market, they realize Espial provides the essential software in a scalable package, from a tiny 125k broadcast XLET to full Internet access."

Espial Suite for TV enables revenue generating interactive services such as enhanced TV, interactive advertising-driven TF, rendering HTML from the video stream, photo image display, wall-garden display, browser based email, and full Internet access. MHP and OCAP are emerging rapidly in Europe, and the US respectively, due to the industry momentum behind the benefits of a truly open platform for the operators, manufacturers, broadcasters and content/application developers worldwide.

Espial Suite for TV will be debuted in the ADB Stand 11.641 at the International Broadcasting Convention.
