Manners Expert to Hold Seminar During Amelia Book Island Festival
The third annual Amelia Book Island Festival will feature a special program on manners, Get Invited Back," presented by Cindy Post Senning, Ed.D. The great-granddaughter of etiquette guru Emily Post will hold the workshop on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites, as the finale event of the four-day series of talks, readings and book signings.
AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (PRWEB) September 16, 2003) - The third annual Amelia Book Island Festival will feature a special program on manners, Get Invited Back," presented by Cindy Post Senning, Ed.D. The great-granddaughter of etiquette guru Emily Post will hold the workshop on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites, as the finale event of the four-day series of talks, readings and book signings.
The program will provide an update on new etiquette rules for teens and young professionals. Topics range from correct cell-phone use in the presence of others to proper procedures for applying for a job to appropriate behavior while dining in elegant surroundings on prom night. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask Senning their questions about good manners.
Get Invited Back" is a separate event from the main series of book-related talks and discussions that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4. Although Senning will also speak during the Saturday program, Get Invited Back" is a unique event that will offer advice in a lively, interactive seminar for young people and parents."
Senning visits the Amelia Book Island Festival as the co-author of The Gift of Good Manners: A Parents Guide to Raising Respectful, Kind, Considerate Children." The book argues that manners are essential for every childs lifelong success and self-confidence. It instructs parents on understanding and modeling the values that are the foundation of manners and it shows ways to help children take on these values.
Senning serves as a director of The Emily Post Institute, which continues the work of Emily Post, who wrote her first book on etiquette in 1922. Senning oversees book development, writes columns on childrens etiquette and conducts business etiquette seminars.
The event is sponsored by Books Plus and a fundraiser of the local Little Womens Club. Admission to Get Invited Back is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets are available from members of the Fernandina Beach Little Womens Club. Tickets are also available at BooksPlus, First Coast Community Bank, the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce offices or at the door.
The third annual Amelia Book Island Festival is October 2-5, 2003, and features more than 30 authors of novels, mysteries, histories, westerns, suspense thrillers, poetry and books for young readers. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the authors and participate in workshops with authors, agents, editors, publishers and publicists. The festival features several events including Rock-N-Roll Readings," 25 author-led workshops and discussions, Lunch-with-Authors," Dine-with-Authors" and Authors-in-Schools" of Nassau County. The $15 festival ticket provides admission to all workshops and readings. The Lunch-with-Authors tickets are separate and also $15 each. Luncheon seating is limited.
