New Motivational Tool Set to Revolutionise The Way Children Are Taught in UK Schools

·Only educational tool created specifically to motivate modern children to learn available for schools, teachers and parents

London,UK (PRWEB) 16th September 2003, London, Juniors, the UKs most comprehensive online education resource for Key Stage Two learning, today announces an entirely new online educational project, Juniors V4, which aims to revolutionise the way children in the 21st century learn.

The first of its type in the UK, this groundbreaking project has been written and designed by experts in 'motivational education. It is unique because it has been created to make kids want to learn using the following features:
·A cast of futuristic whiz kids -- the J-Gang characters enrich the user experience with a ready source of personalisation and identification. The characters, which are fully realised and voiced broadcast-quality cartoon characters, guide and advise the user in their voyage through Juniors.
·J-World -- a unique motivational tool for kids, J-World is a navigable futuristic sphere populated by the J-Gang. These virtual hosts preside over a lavishly animated futuristic cityscape where J-Points, the currency of Juniors.net (amassed through completing educational tasks), can be spent.
·Interactive and exciting activities -- All 850 literacy and numeracy tutorials are exciting and interactive, and for the science module, pupils are invited to embark on 'missions.

The new design and features offer schools and teachers a huge range of easily accessible and compelling materials, which bring together text, graphics, animation, and high quality video and sound.

This will allow teachers to spend more time on teaching and will engage children in a new approach to learning as Juniors enables kids to learn at their own pace whilst maintaining the interactive capabilities of an online classroom.

Rhidian Llewellyn, Headmaster at Papplewick Prep School, Ascot and IAPS Representative for the Joint Educational Trust, says: "Until the launch of Juniors, most educational resources had been designed by adults with an adult's perception of what motivated them when they were children. Modern children are totally different beings to children of the 50s, 60s and 70s, with different needs and attitudes. This means that if we want to help them learn we really need to understand the new type of pupil and what they need to encourage them to approach learning in the right way."
Ian Vardy, School Development Adviser for ICT at Somerset LEA states: As ICT develops new and ever more powerful ways of communicating information, and as schools struggle to budget for ICT, it has become increasingly critical that LEAs obtain the best value they can for their regions pupils. One of our objectives is to help Primary School children in Somerset meet Government targets for Key Stage 2 Literacy and Numeracy. The Digital Learning Resources Group, which purchases software and other digital learning content on behalf of schools in Somerset believes that Juniors new, motivational approach to encouraging children to learn will result in pupils across Somerset enjoying learning and approaching their schooling in a more positive way. The DLR Group was particularly impressed with the breadth of coverage of the National Curriculum, with over 850 exciting, interactive literacy and numeracy activities, and science 'missions, as well as the stunning new visuals and interactive gaming zone -- JWorld."

Juniors V4 has been launched in response to the growing concern over the fact that children, especially boys are being failed by the current methods available. An analysis of recent SATs results for 2003 clearly indicates that literacy standards in the UK are a cause for concern, at seven years old, boys were outperformed by 11 percentage points in reading and 16 percentage points in writing, girls aged 11, increased their percentage point gap to a record 17 in the writing element of English.
The team behind Juniors firmly believes that their new motivational approach to stimulating children to learn will directly improve numeracy and literacy standards in Key Stage two children across the UK.
